Friday only – TomTom ONE-S for $99.99

Amazon is offering the TomTom ONE-S for $99.99 today (Friday, Feb. 27) only. I saw this model listed at Wal-Mart over the holidays. It does not appear to be a TomTom ONE 130-S, but it could be a TomTom ONE 3rd edition with text-to-speech (TTS). UPDATE: The latter is right. TT3rd w/TTS. I can tell you that, in addition to TTS, it has pre-loaded maps of the U.S. and Canada, and a 3.5″ touch screen. Pretty good deal for a new TomTom with TTS.

$50 rebate on any Garmin Oregon handheld

Garmin is offering a $50 rebate (PDF) on any of its Oregon series handhelds. This offer is valid between February 27, 2009 and May 10, 2009. Postmark deadline is May 30, 2009. Limit 5 rebates per customer.

The Oregon series has a touch-screen interface and offers paperless geocaching capabilities across the entire product line. The rebate brings the Oregon 200 down to under $200 at some retailers. For more details on the entire Oregon line, read my Garmin Oregon 400t review.

Be sure to read the fine print, but here are some of the usual caveats:

Purchases made through online auctions, excluding direct purchases from authorized dealers, are not

Garmin Oregon 200 touch screen handheld

I’m not sure how long this deal will last. This is a great touch screen handheld unit, ideal for geocachers and hikers. It has no detailed maps nor electronic compass. The latter is not a big deal, and there are lots of free maps out there if you don’t have a copy of Topo US.
