Attention hikers! Want a touchscreen, high-resolution handheld that is ideal for backcountry hiking and can handle paperless geocaching too? Well REI.com has the Garmin Oregon 300 GPS for $249.99 through November 30. That’s $150 off their regular price!

UPDATE: REI.com is now throwing in free shipping on all Garmin units through November 30.

Here’s a bit more info from the intro to my Garmin Oregon 300 review on GPS Tracklog:

The Garmin Oregon 300 is one of Garmin’s first touch-screen handhelds for backcountry use. The Oregon 300 comes with a built-in worldwide basemap with shaded relief. Unlike the Oregon 400 series, the 300 doesn’t come with pre-loaded detailed maps. Don’t let that dissuade you though – there are plenty of free maps available for Garmin units.

I’ll add that one of the things we love about REI is their ironclad guarantee.

I ordered the Oregon 300 last night form REI and wanted to check on the free shipping promotion. The site doesn’t have that promotion listed, and after a call no one could confirm free shipping on Garmin products. Are you sure about the free shipping?

    I added a new link at http://bestgpsdeals.net/rei-garmin-deals/606/.

It should work. It’s provided by their affiliate program, but it may only work if you place an order online starting today.

TJ, my mistake. The free shipping deal wasn’t supposed to go live until today (11/24).
