It’s $299.95 minus a $50 rebate (PDF) and is eligible for the 10% REI members dividend, bringing it down to $220! The good folks at DeLorme have been busy as elves, getting all sorts of deals set up for you holiday shoppers. Their PN series are great handhelds that can display aerial imagery and USGS topo maps, and handle paperless caching to boot. The PN-40 even adds a tri-axial electronic compass. These units have developed quite the following and deservedly so.

My sources tell me that the following prices are good through Monday, December 8:

DeLorme PN-40 – $275.00 (first impressions review); compare at Amazon.
DeLorme PN-20 – $150.00 (review); compare at Amazon.

These are the lowest prices I’ve seen on these units.The PN-40 is probably the best handheld on the market that will display aerial photos.

You can get them at www.walmart.com. Online only; not available in stores.

There’s a $50 rebate on the DeLorme PN-20 and PN-40 (PDF), the latter being the hottest handheld of the holiday season. It’s valid on purchases made between November 21 and December 31, 2008. See the rebate form for more details.

UPDATE: DeLorme has given me new information, saying the rebate is not available at online merchants who are offering instant rebates. The official list of vendors honoring the rebate and the rebate form itself are available at http://www.delorme.com/pnrebate/
